Donnie was born and raised in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. He and his wife, Karen (Belliveau), have been happily married for 43 years. Their family includes their daughter, Angela, who lives in Keswick, Ontario, with her husband, Jean, and their two children, Lucas and Rachel.
Currently a security guard for Commissionaires of Nova Scotia, Donnie has a rich history of community service in Shelburne. He retired after a remarkable 30-year tenure with the Shelburne Fire Department and served as the Shelburne Harbour Master for 33 years. Additionally, he dedicated 23 years as an auxiliary member, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to public safety and community support.
Joining the Town Council fulfills a long-held ambition for Donnie, who brings deep-rooted concerns for Shelburne’s future, alongside extensive experience in public service. His background includes working with various organizations, managing public interactions, and navigating rules and regulations, all of which equip him to contribute positively to the community. Eager to collaborate with staff and council members, he looks forward to fresh ideas and approaches that will shape Shelburne's future in impactful ways.
