Born and raised in the Philippines, Therese Cruz embarked on a new chapter in her life when she immigrated to Canada with her family in 2003. Seeking a nurturing environment to raise her own family, she made Shelburne her home in 2017.
As an artist herself, Therese has been a dedicated supporter of local arts and culture. Her involvement in various community initiatives, coupled with her experience as an arts administrator, has equipped her with a deep understanding of policy, governance, and program development. As a long-time volunteer with organizations like the Shelburne County Arts Council, the Shelburne Guild Hall Market, and the Whirligig and Weathervane Festival, she has gained invaluable insights into the heart of community life.
Her diverse professional background, including roles in healthcare and the food industry, has provided her with a firsthand understanding of the unique challenges and rewards of rural living.
Driven by a commitment to community service, Therese is passionate about representing the interests of Shelburne residents and working tirelessly to shape a brighter future for the town.
