Town Office Closure

Effective 2 pm December 17th the Town Office will be closed to the public until January 4th, 2022.
The administration staff will be working from home until December 24th at noon. View the complete staff contact list.
All questions or concerns can be addressed by email or phone and staff will respond in a timely manner.
Payments for taxes can be made by:
- Online Banking
A proper payee name is required as well as your eight-digit Assessment Account Number(s). If you have more than one property you must enter each assessment number and the amount you are sending for each one.
Online payments are possible with the following banking institutions:- CIBC – payee name is: Shelburne (NS/Town of) Tax
- Scotia Bank – payee name is: TOWN OF SHELBURNE (NS) TAX
- Bank of Montreal – payee name is: Shelburne (NS), Town-Of-Tax
- TD Canada Trust – payee name is: Shelburne Nova Scotia (Town of) Taxes
- Royal Bank of Canada – payee name is: Town of Shelburne (Nova Scotia) - Tax
Please ensure that you are using the correct payee name when using this service. - In-person at your local bank
- Cheque or money order in the mail
- Payment by Credit Card-Plastiq
The Town of Shelburne has an additional payment option for our ratepayers who wish to pay their Tax, Water and Port Authority bill using a credit card. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In order for Plastiq to process your payment, you will need to include the 8-digit Assessment Account Number for Tax payments, 5-digit Meter Number for Water payments or the 4-digit Slip Number for Port Authority payments.
The service fee for Plastiq is 2% of your payment amount.
****The Office will then be closed for the holidays from 12 noon, Thursday, December 24, 2021, until 9:00 am, January 4, 2022.**
Winter Parking

Please Note
Residents are reminded that the Winter Parking By-Laws are in effect during snowstorms.
Please avoid parking on streets 1 hour after a snowstorm has started until 2 hours after the snow has finished allowing our Public Works crew to safely plow the snow.
Seniors Care Grant

Beginning Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Service Nova Scotia & Internal Services will deliver a new grant program on behalf of the Department of Seniors and Long-term Care.
The Seniors Care Grant will be an annual reimbursement program of up to $500 to help cover the costs of household services. It can be used to reimburse costs for such things as snow removal, home repairs, lawn care, grocery delivery, and more. It is available to homeowners and renters.
The applicant must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the program:
- They must still reside in their home
- The property or lease agreement must be in their name or include their name
- They are 65 years of age or over
- They have an annual household net income of $37,500 or less
Applicants can submit online at Seniors Care Grant or by paper. Paper applications will be available at MLA offices as well as Access Nova Scotia Offices starting on December 1st.
